3 Places for a Curry With Your Dog in Sheffield

That title conjures up visions of you sat opposite your four-legged friend chewing the fat over a lamb bhuna*, but what weโ€™re obviously referring to are dog-friendly spots where you can have a tasty curry this National Curry Week in Sheffield! (Yes this content is very, very niche).

You probably wonโ€™t be surprised to hear that since most curry houses are restaurants that there arenโ€™t many willing to welcome dogs, but getting around that there are three great spots in Sheffield where you can have a curry with your dog in tow, including:

Ma-Ba @ Cutlery Works, Kelham Island

Kelham Island pubs made the area popular, but over the last few years, there are so many great places to grab something to eat that itโ€™s becoming a bit of a foodie haven as well. One of the names at the centre of that is Cutlery Works, Kelham Islandโ€™s own food hall that houses a couple of bars and a varied list of food vendors in a shared setting.

One of those food venues is Ma-Ba who serves up tasty Indian street food. Theyโ€™ve got plenty to offer, and in proper Indian style theyโ€™re very good for vegetarians as well. You can grab bhaji wraps, a selection of small plates, or their famed thali selection to share. As itโ€™s national curry week though, you could choose from their selection of curries, or opt for what I had when we last went โ€“ their fantastic chips loaded with chicken curry, yoghurt and coriander.

Chaat Cart @ Kommune, City Centre

Kommune Sheffield is the city centreโ€™s own food hall, similar to Cutlery Works but offering up different food vendors, they also have a shop, a bottle shop and their own bar to choose from. Chaat Cart is the vendor to go for on Curry Week (or any week for that matter) as theyโ€™re the ones serving up fantastic Indian street food options.

The Chaat Cart menu always has a couple of curries on there alongside their chicken wraps, buddha bowls and amazing Chicken 65 burger, but why not treat yourself to their meat or vegetarian Tiffin, served in a traditional Indian tiffin you get a starter, rice, curry and salad. Here is their Chicken Kati roll that we had last time we visited:

Chicken Kati Roll from Kommune Sheffield

Mowgli, Ecclesall Road

If you havenโ€™t tried Mowgli on Ecclesall Road, you should, but what many donโ€™t realise is that itโ€™s actually dog friendly. Obviously, as a busy restaurant, itโ€™s probably better to go on during the day. Youโ€™ll find Mowgli up near Hunters Bar roundabout, so itโ€™s ideally placed for lunch after a play in Endcliffe Park, or a walk through Bingham Park/Whitley Woods.

Mowgli is founded by food writer, TV presenter, and fellow dog lover Nisha Katona and the place is stunning, youโ€™ve probably seen it with itโ€™s sparkling fairy lights and swing seats in the window and the food matches up to the decor. Mowgli serves up Indian street food, so prepare to pick out a few small plates to sample everything. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Himalayan Cheese on Toast and the Bunny Chow (curry served inside a hollowed-out bread roll) which can be seen on the far right of the picture below.

Wherever you end up this National Curry Week, have a great one and know that somewhere I am jealous.

*I shouldnโ€™t have to say this, but this is the internet and itโ€™s wild out there, Please do NOT feed your dog curry. Just take them with you while YOU enjoy the curry.
